We develop advanced fabrics designed to function as a second skin—textiles worn closest to the body that interact with the skin’s sensory system. By harnessing the skin’s perception of light, heat, and subtle physical stimuli, our research explores how textile structures can support and stabilize the body’s natural condition.

Founded by ceramic textile innovator Takeshi “Ken” Sugimoto, 2nd SKIN LABS builds on Japanese mineral and ceramic textile research through scientific collaboration in North America.
